Last Monday, 19th January, the Microsoft Student Partners in partnership with Association for Computing Machinery – UP Student Chapter and UP Education Society held the Launch of Vista and Office 2007, an Event at UP (LOVE@UP), a Vista Campus Launch, at the Engineering Theater, College of Engineering, Melchor Hall. More than 160 students from different colleges attended the event.
The Imagine Cup invitation was given by Mr. Jose Timoteo Vergel de Dios and the demonstration of Vista and Office 2007 were presented by Tristan Jed Roque, chairperson of UP ACM, and Katrina Santos.
Participants received Microsoft planners while books and Vista button pins were raffled.
The UP ACM-JUG Java Tutorial was given by Mr. Aldwin Lee (Manager of UP JRDC) last Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the UP Java Research & Development Center (UP JRDC) at the UP-Ayala Technopark.
The tutorial covered basic Java which included background of the Java programming language and a hands-on practice on classes, data types, overloaded constructors, parameter passing, methods and command line arguments.
Participants of the tutorial were students from the College of Business Administration, College of Engineering, College of Education and the Institute of Library and Information Science which included UP ACM-JUG members and non-members.
