It appears everybody’s been too busy to blog about the success of the recent UP ACM Amazing Tour, held last June 15, 2005.

At least an updated write-up has been uploaded now. (Among other things — the frontpage is too empty and so I put our blog feed there, too.)

This is probably one of the first major events we’ve held as a fledgling organization (with all due to respect to its past officers, I’m referring to ACM’s status as an org that has only recently been opened to undergraduates and therefore has little to no exposure to the undergrads), one that was not at all geeky (read: academic), and one that in the end appealed to the freshies and established bonds with them. For these reasons, and more, I’m sure we have much to smile about and be proud of. Thanks to everyone who helped!

IcingICPC Challenge and Blog-Stalking

It’s sort of amusing to see the dedication the young ACMers have in their CS 175 (Rapid Problem Solving Techniques?/ACM ICPC Training) classes. In their blogs, they’ve been sighing over feeling so unprepared for the recent problem-solving simulations, but they truly are commendable for their hard work and willingness to suffer, I mean practice, further.

At least you’ve been put in training early on. Good luck on the ICPC Delegation eliminations! (Balloon Fight?) As a sidenote, if you’re willing to post at the ACM Blog, just say so, OK?

CS Teacher or Student?

For those who haven’t heard (which should be curious, since even Prem has blogged about it), UP ACM membership forms are already available: check out the Organization section for the requirements, then download the file. Or, drop by the Department and look for Mai Sibayan (our Vice-Chair, Head of Membership — chances are she’ll be hanging out in the SA Lounge ^^). Deadline is on July 1. Remember that membership is open to everyone in UP Diliman.
