Amazing Race 2005

Patterned after the famous "Amazing Race" in terms of structure, freshmen teams of at most ten raced around Melchor Hall and nearby buildings to complete tasks that challenged their mental and physical stamina.

Below are the legs of the race:

Briefing. Contestants were given the race mechanics, then told to proceed to the Eng'g Parking Lot for their first clue. There they met their team handlers, and got their next clue.

Icing Challenge. Teams must finish a plate of icing to find the UP ACM logo before they can get their next clue.

CS @ NEC. Several flags placed throughout the second floor of the NEC must be spotted and retrieved to be able to proceed.

Pitstop: Sundial. The Host, UP ACM Chair Ardee Aram gives a brief history on the Sundial, built by the Alumni Engineers decades ago.

Is the Floppy Working?. Teams perform an exhaustive search to determine which secretly-marked floppy will be accepted to be able to proceed.

CS Teacher or Student?. Teams must be able to identify, without making a mistake, if the face flashed on screen is a CS Teacher or a CS Student. Should they fail in at least one instance, they must go back to the end of the line and try their luck to perfect the list again.

Pitstop: Batcave. Once more the Host briefs the teams on the origin of the term "Batcave."

Blog-stalking. Teams must find a valid blog from the list of URLs, and be the first to comment on the chosen blog.

Reverse Charades. A UP situation is picked out to be mimed out by one actor, while the rest of his/her teammates must guess the phrase correctly.

Keyboard-ayos Challenge. Teams must put back together keys back onto the keyboard in the correct QWERTY order.

Pipe Relay. Teams must be able to transfer a ping pong ball using a series of footlong hotdog cardboards into the basket.

The winning team, "Buktu," was given a cash prize of one thousand pesos.
